Vivienne Westwood (the wildest thing of all)

Vivienne Westwood's Fall 2010 collection was very playful and almost childish.
Westwood mixed prints in a way that reminds me of a little kid throwing on her mother's clothes.
The multicolored string shawl reminded me of a child playing with yarn and wrapping it around themselves.
Also, in Paris, I've been noticing something new and different, colors!
Westwood's collection was not just blacks and grays, but oranges, purples, pinks, and reds, which made her clothes bold and pop off my screen.
Westwood made mixing prints look easy, and I love her new collection. Especially the large crowns a few of the models wore.

Do these crowns remind you of something?

I immediately thought of Max from Where the Wild Things Are:

Viktor & Rolf: Convertibility is the new black

Viktor & Rolf's fall 2010 collection was full of interesting shapes, but you cannot get the full effect of the show in photos.
I am hoping and anxiously awaiting that Garance Dore will upload some artsy video that truly captures the show, but for now I can leave you with a youtube video I found and a pretty thorough description from Women's Wear Daily.
Viktor and Rolf used their first model Kristen McMenamy as a living wardrobe and dressed the other models with convertible clothing she wore under her coat. According to Style.com, McMenamy estimated she wore three times her body weight on her back.

" It starred Kristen McMenamy as a stationary mannequin piled high with half the collection at the onset. There she stood in the middle of a rotating runway flanked by the designers, who systematically undressed her, layer by layer, then redressed another model waiting to wear the discards down the catwalk. Off came a giant cape with fur shoulders that converted into a coat, followed by another fur cape, a flimsy silk drawstring-waist dress and so on, until McMenamy was stripped down to a nude, sequined bodysuit and the process reversed. It was certainly seat-gripping theater" - Women's Wear Daily

While Women's Wear Daily loved the show, they were less than stunned with the clothing, and I have to agree. I liked the simpleness of the Pre-Fall collection and the chopped up dresses from the Spring 2010 collection better, but nonetheless, the show was impressive.

My favorite look in the collection:

All that glitters at Dolce & Gabbana

There was a whole lot of everything on the runway for Dolce & Gabbana.
Whenever I write Gabbana I think of Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada asking "Could you spell Gabbana?" Click.
Anyways, there was tons of gold, lace, furry purses and even iPhone/iPod holders? Oh, and legs for days as their finale, reminding women everywhere to hit the gym because you won't be hiding behind pants in the fall.

When I saw this gold coin outfit all I could think of was Spanish armadas and sunken treasure.

Pretty Ugly at Topshop Unique

Topshop Unique sent down some interesting looking models in London this week.

The eyebrows were thick and wild, the hair was frizzy and wild, the whole show was wild.

The models reminded me of a cross between centaurs and wood nymphs. Their faces looked half-human and half-animal. It took a few looks but then I realized this is what fashion should do, it should surprise you, and I decided I was surprised in a good way.

Once I got my eyes off the pretty ugly faces of the models, I focused on the clothes, which I loved.

Looking at the photos from the show, I felt like I had stepped through the closet and into a fashionable and less snowy version of Narnia, where the centaurs wear well-tailored jackets and cable knit socks.
