OBSESSED: Jason Wu and Peter Som Fall 2012

Two of my favorite collections so far have been Jason Wu and Peter Som.  While Jason Wu went a little different than I expected, his glamour looks were spot on.  I wasn't as crazy about the Asian undertones and the Chinese hats, but his last five or so looks were gorgeous and worthy of any red carpet.  Peter Som's sophisticated structured looks were amazing, and I loved his big fur coats that lifted his looks from simple to chic.

What did you think?  Were Wu's and Som's collections hits or misses?

NYFW: Altuzarra, Peter Som and Thakoon

Altuzarra, Peter Som and Thakoon all showed amazing collections at New York Fashion Week recently that featured some stand out prints.  While Peter Som's was probably my favorite of the three (not to mention definitely my top five so far at NYFW), I'll start with why I like Altuzarra.

First, the jungle print reminds me of a wallpaper I wanted in my room when I was little and my parents, thankfully in retrospect, refused.  Because of that I have always had a soft spot in my heart for tropical scenes, but what I think works for Altuzarra is that he combines the bold print with white, minimalistic dresses so it's not overpowering.  I love the simplicity of his line and the mixture of the fun, summery prints.  Not to mention the eyebrows on the girls are kind of cool.

Peter Som's collection is pretty.  That's right pretty.  It's just good, clean pretty.  I love it, and as I am a sucker for floral print, I think it's amazing and wish I could own just about all of it.  OK sorry, but it's true.  The bold colors and the blue floral skirt and dress (I DIE) are gorgeous.  I am totally obsessed with the dress Lindsey Wixson modeled AND the zebra-print bathing suit is too good for words.

Thakoon's collection is probably my least favorite of the three.  Although, I think it has its moments, like the incredibly decadent gold look down below, the collection to me felt a little like Marie Antoinette meets the wild west.  I love some of the prints though and think that worn separately and not with colored hair and hats they would be more statement pieces than just overstimulating.  That being said, I am totally into the colored hair.

What are your thoughts?

NY Fashion Week Day Two: Peter Som & Rachel Comey

So far today has been another great day at fashion week, here's a look at Peter Som's and Rachel Comey's fall 2011 collections.

Peter Som's collection is dazzling with the sequin pieces and patterned dresses.  And once again, we see more chunky knits in Rachel Comey's collection, and I adore the pleated skirts and knee-length dresses.

Runner-ups at New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week ended Friday.

I was a little sad because it gives me something to look forward to every day, but luckily today is the start of London Fashion Week.

I'm still finishing up the summaries of my favorite shows, and they will all get their own posts (there's not too many more I promise!).

However, here's some of my runners-up for favorite collections.  I like these a lot, but they weren't quite in my top 10(ish).

Jen Kao
I especially loved the structured and corset-like tops on the first row.

Peter Som
I'm a sucker for collared dresses.

Rachel Comey
Simple dresses done well.

Rebecca Taylor
Taylor did a great job incorporating the spring flower pattern trend in her collection.  I love her long dresses.

Alice + Olivia
A reoccurring favorite of mine, their pretty dresses get me every season.

Rebecca Minkoff
I would wear all her clothes, but I don't find them particularly high fashion.
