iPad represents convergence in journalism world

Interview Magazine is celebrating its 40th anniversary by unveiling its first iPad version on April 3, the day the iPad comes out.

Interview is the first fashion magazine to make the transfer to the iPad.

The magazine will combine audio and video content with 330 screens of images and text.

The iPad version will precede the print version by nine days.

In my mass communication class, we learned a lot about convergence. We also learned the importance of knowing a little bit of everything when it comes to new media.

I believe the iPad exemplifies the idea of convergence, and shows how the journalism world is constantly being shaped by technology.

With the iPad, magazines are no longer limited to print and pictures.

While magazines are able to use the internet to post videos and music, the iPad allows magazines to combine all types of media into one portable device.

I think the iPad could potentially connect the concept of online media and print to a greater extent than was previously possible.

Here's a video that shows the capabilities of Interview's iPad version.
