Acne Fall 2011

Finally!  My first post on London Fashion Week... I chose to start with Acne, one because alphabetically it's first, but it's also one of my favorite labels.  I really like the monochromatic suits, the extremely tall heels and the nude pink colors they used on some of their looks.  I'm not sure if I like this collection more than their spring 2011 collection, but it's definitely different which Acne does well.

Hiatus is over!

OK, so I feel awful.  I've left my blog untended to for a few days now at one of the most important times of the year: fashion month and the Oscars.  Just when I was bragging that I had finally gone through all the New York collections, I completely fell behind with school and a trip to Miami.

However, I can promise I will be updating a lot in the next few days, and I am looking forward to Paris Fashion Week!

In the mean time, I'll leave you with photos from Interview Magazine of the men behind Proenza Schouler and Kasia Struss.

Photo of the day: Malgosia Bela for Vogue Spain

I am going to start a new thing on here where I have a favorite photo of the day.  Here's my first one, a photo of Malgosia Bela shot by Camilla Akrans for Vogue Spain.  She's wearing Alexander McQueen and rocking the pink hair trend.  There is just so much goodness in this photo.

Final collections of New York Fashion Week Fall 2011

I've actually done it!  I've posted about every favorite collection I had for New York Fashion Week, and while I feel so accomplished, I won't get too excited because I'm still WAY behind on London Fashion Week.

However, here are my final favorite collections from New York.  As always, I adore Charlotte Ronson's '90s layered and cool girl look, and her knits are so comfy looking yet stylish.  Lela Rose creates some gorgeous dresses, my favorite I'll point out in the photos below.  Finally, Derek Lam showcases some stunning gowns that are a little Lanvin-esque at the end, but the black dress towards the end of the show is to die for.

Enjoy and look for my posts about LFW soon and Happy Milan Fashion Week, which I will be getting to soon I promise, so stay tuned.

Proenza Schouler Fall 2011

Maybe you all were wondering why someone like me, who is clearly obsessed with everything the boys of Proenza Schouler do, has waited so long to post about their fall 2011 collection.

Well, there's a few reasons.  First, to give you some insight for me, I got a job where I assist in archiving an architecture collection at school that takes up what are normally my "blogging breaks."  Second, I've been bogged down with school.  And last and most important, I wasn't sure if I liked it.  However, as I suspected it grew on me, and now I adore how crazy-cool it is.

The prints are so interesting, and I love how they played with geometric designs.  I think what caught me off guard at first was the mixing of patterns and how busy it can be, and I'll admit, I'm a minimalist at heart so some of these looks never quite hit a home run in my book, but overall, I'm loving the print dresses with simple silhouettes.

What did you think?

NY Fashion Week: Shoes (part two)

OK, sorry again for the delay, but here's the second part of my favorite shoes from New York Fashion Week.

What designers made your favorite shoes?

Amanda Seyfried for Interview Magazine

Sorry for the lack of posts during fashion week!  I had an issue with space on this account and I've been loaded with school work, so now it's back to updating.  I am super excited because I'm going to the SOBE Food & Wine Festival Thursday so I'll try to take some photos!

Happy London Fashion Week and enjoy this awesome shoot of Amanda Seyfried for Interview Magazine shot by Mikael Jansson.

NY Fashion Week: Shoes (part one)

This is the first part of two posts about my favorite and the most interesting shoes at New York Fashion Week.  I think my favorites were actually the Hunter rain boots from Organic by John Patrick.  I own a pair of Hunter rain boots and I would gladly trade mine in for a pair of those stylish and urban boots.  Also, I love Alexander Wang's metalic loafers and Jason Wu's heel detail.

What collection had your favorite shoes?

Alexander Wang

NY Fashion Week: Backstage and behind the scenes

Here's a look at my favorite backstage and behind the scenes photos from New York Fashion Week.  Enjoy!

Going Buck: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2011

I adore the prints Marc Jacobs used for his Marc fall collection.

I love the deer on the skirts, the dresses and especially the shoes that I may have to save up to invest in when they come out, because come on, they're fierce.

Once again, Jacobs seems to pull from the 70s with the oversized sunglasses and hats, but this might be my favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs collection because it does look so sophisticated and different.

NY Fashion Week: Favorite hair styles

My favorite hair styles this past week were definitely the messy looks.  Here's some photos hair styles that I thought were awesome and that I'd gladly try out if only I was more skilled with my own messy locks.

First and foremost, Rodarte:

Carine Roitfeld's last Vogue Paris cover

The end of Carine Roitfeld's career as editor at Vogue Paris will end with in March with model Saskia de Brauw shot by Mert & Marcus.

It will be a sad day when this issue comes out, I can only hope she pulled out all the stops for her last issue, and on the brighter side, it will be interesting to see where Emmanuelle Alt will take the magazine.

NY Fashion Week: Glamour Done Right (part two)

I didn't want to bog down my last post, but here's two more collections with to-die-for evening wear.

Monique Lhuillier utilized lace in a sexy yet sophisticated way, and I think that all her evening gowns are red carpet worthy.  Also, my grandma and I always argue over this because she adores animal prints, and I tend to think they look cheap.  However, I think my grandma would be happy to see that Lhuillier  made leopard print evening gowns and to my surprise, made them look elegant and chic.

Badgley Mischka also had some hits as far as evening wear goes.  I really like the first and fourth looks because not only are they a little edgy but they are pretty and feminine at the same time thanks to the sequins.

Overall, it seems New York Fashion Week was full of glamourous collections.  Be sure to let me know if you agree or disagree with my picks.  I think a few others not included (but in separate posts) would be Marchesa, Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu, but let me know some others and why!

Monique Lhuillier

NY Fashion Week: Glamour Done Right

Here's two collections from New York Fashion Week that have pieces that I think epitomize glamour.  Donna Karan and Carolina Herrera's fall 2011 collections were elegant, refined and let's face it, down right pretty.  They both used fur and metalic fabrics, which were both big hits on the runway this season.  I like the mostly muted tones Karan used and as for Herrera, I love her use of sequins and the last dress below is so pretty and different with it's business shape but evening wear accents.

What collections do you think had a lot glamourous looks?

NY Fashion Week: Street Style

Here's a look at all of my favorite street style photos from New York Fashion Week.  Long skirts and lots of fur seemed to be the thing to wear to fashion shows this season, and here's a look at the women I think did it the best.  Most of these photos are from Phil Oh and Tommy Ton, and I have to say these guys are probably the masters of street style, enjoy!

Prabal Gurung Fall 2011

Prabal Gurung went for a more glamorous look in his fall 2011 collection.  The reds are super bold and stunning and the pinks are playful and feminine.  I also adore the lace up looking tights.  What do you think?

Another Look: Rachel Antonoff

I know I already did a post about how much I like Rachel Antonoff's fall collection but I found these photos on The Cobra Snake's website and thought they did a great job showing you what the smaller pictures couldn't: the awesomeness that is Rachel Antonoff's tights and shoes.

Check it out!

NY Fashion Week: the masters of the party dress

Here's a look at the collections from New York fashion week that I think have mastered the party dress.

Every season Alice + Olivia and Erin Fetherston make beautiful dresses that are great for fancy occasions that aren't the Oscars, which means they are wearable!  Alice + Olivia stepped out of the box a little with their shapes and patterns, and I love Erin Fetherston's etherial look.

They seem to follow with the idea, much like Marchesa, that if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Marchesa Fall 2011

Marchesa once again sticks to what Georgina Chapman knows and even though there are no surprises, it's a gorgeous collection full of red carpet looks and hopefully an Oscar dress or two.

Karen Elson for Vogue US

I adore this shoot of Karen Elson by Bruce Weber, and it scares me how much she looks like Grace Coddington in the third photo.

Lauren Conrad's Paper Crown Lookbook

Lauren Conrad is releasing a new collection called "Paper Crown."  It's geared towards a younger demographic and looks like clothes that came out of Conrad's closet.  No word on how much they're going to cost yet, but I definitely love the white patterned dress with the black band.

Lindsey Wixson for Moussy Spring 2011

The Row Fall 2011

While there's been a lot of fur on the runway this week, no one has done it to the extent and possibly as well as the Olsens.  Also, I'm not sure who will wear those fur hats, but I hope Mary Kate and Ashley start sporting them just so everyone can know they are totally wearable.

I'm obsessed with the last look and the black lace they used on a few of the pieces.  It really seems like the Olsens are evolving their style and trying new things, and I applaud them because this collection is by no means boring.

A day in the life of Hanneli Mustaparta

Check out this video to see what it's like to be a fashion blogger during fashion week.  It chronicles a day in the life of Hanneli Mustaparta and the Tory Burch show.

OBSESSED: Rodarte Fall 2011

OK, so it's 2 a.m., I am at my boyfriend's house supposed to be watching Dexter and instead I am holding up the show to post about how OBSESSED I am with Rodarte's fall 2011 collection.  I've been beyond busy the past few days, but when I realized Rodarte showed today, I had to check it out and I was not disappointed.

I love the new shapes and the wheat at the bottom of the dresses.  The shoes (which I will post about later) are to die for.  The hair and makeup makes the models look like they literally just came out of a wheat field except it's super chic and probably not in Kansas but some wheat field in Paris or something. Also, I adore the floor length coats and the knit sweaters.  Once again Rodarte has shown an amazing collection.

Check it out and enjoy, I know I did.

OBSESSED: Rachel Antonoff Fall 2011

I'm obsessed with a few things in Rachel Antonoff's fall collection.  First, the fact that she staged a kind of sock hop, high school dance in an actual high school.  Second, the extremely adorable tights with the hearts on the knees.  And lastly, her new collection of Bass shoes.  Not to mention, the collection is very cute on its own and I love all the collared looks.

Band of Outsiders Fall 2011

I love Band of Outsiders' fall collection for three reasons: one it's wearable, two male models came in from the ceiling and three (a completely unrelated reason) I adore the way they styled their models' hair.

Alexander Wang Fall 2011

I'm going to be honest and say that even though I am always obsessed with what Alexander Wang produces, I don't think his collection was one show stopper after the other.

That being said, the show stoppers of his collection were definitely at the end, and I adore the pieces that look like they're unravelling.  Also, I really like the natural way the models looked and I think this collection will end up growing on me as time goes by.

After all, it wouldn't be a normal Alexander Wang collection if it didn't make you question what he was producing right before you fell in love with it.
