Favorite Collections from Bridal Fall 2012 (part two)

While a lot of the trends from bridal week seemed to go toward embracing minimal and column dresses a la Pippa Middleton, Marchesa and Temperley London seemed to channel Kate.  Both created long sleeve and lacy dresses that resembled the gorgeous McQueen look Kate wore on her wedding day, and while I adored that dress, I was also happy to see a little less structure from the likes of Jenny Packham, who I think was inspired a little by Kate Middleton and Kate Moss.  With so many important weddings this year, I think that those are the three types of wedding dresses we will see a lot of next year, whether it's Moss's Galliano/Gatsby loose fitting silhouette, Middleton's traditional, structured and lacy long sleeved gown or Pippa Middleton's column, tight-fitting and minimal dress.

NYFW: Red Carpet Stunners from Marchesa, Reem Acra and Carolina Herrera

Here are some gorgeous dresses (and a few day dresses) that I really hope end up on the red carpet.  While I know some of the Marchesa ones are way too outlandish to make anything but the worst dressed list (ie: the dress Charotte Free is rocking), I put them in this post because they are gorgeous in theory, just maybe not at the Oscars.  Reem Acra's dresses are glittery and feminine, and one reminds me of the dress Cameran Diaz wore to the Oscars a la Oscar de la Renta.  And Carolina Herrera's bird print is to die for.

Although Monique Lhuillier's dresses might be my favorite from the season, here's a look at some more gorgeous ones to take in before the wedding spell of Kate and William wears off.

Favorite looks from the Oscars

Here's a list of my top 10 favorite looks from the Oscars on Sunday.  I'm not going to lie, I wasn't too impressed with the show or the style.  

However, there were some high notes like Hailee Steinfeld, Cate Blanchett and Penelope Cruz, and when Anne Hathway put on the metalic blue Armani Prive dress during one of her many outfit changes.

Natalie Portman looked great although I thought her dress was rather lackluster for Rodarte.  I wish there had been more bright colors like we've been seeing on the streets in the major fashion cities, but most went for either nude tans, pinks or whites.

Marchesa once again sticks to what Georgina Chapman knows and even though there are no surprises, it's a gorgeous collection full of red carpet looks and hopefully an Oscar dress or two.

Spring 2011 Bridal Season

It's that time of the year again where designers show bridal collections that make you want to find the closest good looking man and marry him so you can wear one of these to die for gowns.

I'm anxiously awaiting the Vera Wang collection, but for now here's three designers who I think have some of the most beautiful dresses so far.

While the spring collection from Marchesa generated a lot of criticism about Georgina Chapman's lack of evolution with her aesthetic, there is one thing that's undeniable, the woman knows how to make gorgeous dresses.

Also, almost every gown below is probably going to be seen at some red carpet which adds to the reason why Chapman has stuck to what sells.

I have a feeling a lot of the short dresses might be seen without the trains though so they are a little more wearable.

I'll be interested to see if they get worn when awards season swings around.

Marchesa- to die for.

I am a huge fan of Marchesa and their Fall 2010 collection did not disappoint. My goal one day is not only own a Marchesa dress, but most importantly have some place exciting/important enough to wear it to.
