Resort 2012: Favorite looks

As always, the season passes, and I haven't posted all the collections I loved.  This time though I decided to pick 11 (I couldn't chose 10) designers that I hadn't posted about yet and tried to pick a couple looks that really stood out to me.  Basically, I just pick outfits that I would either personally wear or if I saw someone on the street, I would think wow, that girl can dress.  Let me know if you had other favorites!

Fall 2011 Couture: Valentino

Leave it to Valentino to lift the level of beauty at Paris's couture fashion week.  I adore the gold ethereal headbands the models are wearing, and I can see celebrities like Diane Kruger, Elle Fanning, Anne Hathaway and Claire Danes strolling proudly down the red carpet in some of these gorgeous dresses.  I predict come awards season there's going to be some fierce competition if they haven't been snagged already. 

Natalia Vodianova's White Fairy Tale Love Ball

If this party doesn't scream fairy tale, I don't know what will.  Let's take a look why:

1. It's in Valentino's house outside of Paris.
2. There was a fairy tale themed fashion show where models wore looks created by designers.
3. Valentino himself designed Vodianova's dress (his first design since retiring in 2008) to represent Little Red Riding Hood.
4. Anne Hathaway wore the famed white dress that got a lot of air time in "Valentino: The Last Emperor."
5. Just look at the photos and watch the video, looks like quite the party.

LOVE: Valentino Fall 2011

Valentino has been having a strong showing on the red carpet this season with women rocking lacy dresses ranging from Mia Wasikowska to Elle Fanning.  While the fall 2011 collection had some very sophisticated basic pieces, it also had some stunning dresses, and if it hasn't already, the pink dress Daphne Groeneveld wears needs to have a red carpet moment asap.

Favorite looks from the Oscars

Here's a list of my top 10 favorite looks from the Oscars on Sunday.  I'm not going to lie, I wasn't too impressed with the show or the style.  

However, there were some high notes like Hailee Steinfeld, Cate Blanchett and Penelope Cruz, and when Anne Hathway put on the metalic blue Armani Prive dress during one of her many outfit changes.

Natalie Portman looked great although I thought her dress was rather lackluster for Rodarte.  I wish there had been more bright colors like we've been seeing on the streets in the major fashion cities, but most went for either nude tans, pinks or whites.

Here's a collection of my favorite photos from V Magazine's coverage of the couture shows.  The photos are from Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino.  I always love when V covers fashion shows because their photos are alway so soft and different from other magazine's coverage.

A look into couture fitting rooms

I found an article on AnOther magazine's website and I thought it was super interesting because it showed 10 famous couture house's fitting rooms.

Here's a look into some beautifully designed spaces ranging from Chanel to Giorgio Armani.

I would say my favorites have to be Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier and Chanel.

Valentino's pre-fall collection is the ultimate showcase of demure dresses and feminine ruffles done well.  I adore the black sheer dresses, the peter pan collars and the rich looking lace.  I also love how some of the models are wearing nude-colored shoes that are simple and stylish.
