Recent obsession: Ammonite jewelry

So, last summer my friend and I went to New York, and while we were there we saw The Little Mermaid on Broadway. I have always loved the movie, but after seeing the play, I had to go home and re-watch it.

Well, I happened to notice that when Urusula becomes Vanessa to trick the prince, she wears an interesting pendant that contains Ariel's voice (I know this is weird, bear with me).

Anyways, I sort of became obsessed with wanting the kind of pendant Vanessa wears, and I realized it was an ammonite pendant or permutation of it.

In New York, I also saw the Evolution store, which I think will be my next stop when I go back in order to complete my goal of owning an ammonite pendant. You can find them at theevolutionstore.com or if you search "ammonite jewelry" on etsy.

There is other jewelry similar to it too at places like bonadrag.com

Take a look, they're actually pretty neat.

Happy Birthday Dr. Marten

April 1 marks the 50th birthday of Dr. Martens.

Their first boot was the 8-eye 1460 boot, which I own and happen to love.

For the 50th celebration, they are having 10 bands/musicians record versions of cult classics that "represent the spirit of Dr. Martens over the past five decades."

They have definitely come a long way from the original boot. So, in honor of the 50th birthday, here are some of the new designs of the 1460 boot.

Summer's almost here

So, I started looking for bathing suits tonight since summer is quickly approaching. However, since my price range is a little lower than the deals Saks offers, I decided to put together a few window shopping looks.

With the exception of the American Apparel bathing suit, this is what I would wear if I had lots of money, and felt it was totally reasonable to bring a Badgley Mischka bag to a pool party or beach day.

Then again, I imagine if I had the money to wear this outfit, I'd probably be vacationing in St. Barts where it is totally acceptable to bring a $400 bag to the beach.

Diane von Furstenberg actually makes pretty reasonable swimwear, so if you're looking for a funky and fun coverup or cute patterned bathing suit that's a little bit more pricey than average, I would suggest her clothing for sure. Also, if you're shopping at Saks for her swimwear, they are running a promotion where if you buy $175 worth of her swimwear you get a free tote bag.

I made a few beach/pool looks, but here's one for tonight, I'll post some of the others later.

Wildfox Couture photoshoot + find your perfect True Blood T-shirt

I'm lovin' these photos by Mark the Cobra snake for Exit Magazine featuring Wildfox Couture clothing.

Also, speaking of Wildfox Couture, the first poster of the 12-poster campaign for True Blood was released on March 25. The campaign will release a poster each week until the premiere of season three on June 13.
If you are looking for the perfect outfit to wear to your True Blood watching party, check out Wildfox Couture's vampire-themed shirts. I believe I will have to purchase the "fangs are fantastic" tank dress.

PS:

Get stoked and get your vampire gear ready.

Keep your eyes peeled New Yorkers!

Karl Lagerfeld is in New York shooting the Fall 2010 Chanel and Fendi collections.

Andre Leon Talley said Lagerfeld will be in New York for 10 days, which began on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Lagerfeld was spotted shooting models Freja Beha Erichsen and Abbey Lee Kershaw in Chanel in SoHo and the Lower East Side neighborhoods. (according to fashionologie.com)

I'm interested to see how this campaign comes out as the clothes and the set are two very contrasting things.

Take a look:

Beyonce is pregnant?

I really hope this is true, Beyonce and Jay-Z's child would be so awesome.
I would say I want it to be a girl simply because a fierce daughter of Beyonce would probably become my new favorite child celebrity, but a little baby hustler boy would be pretty great to watch too.

John Galliano platform shoes

I saw these John Galliano shoes in Vogue and had to look them up.
Personally, I love them and think they are super unique.

Fashion Week returns to Gainesville

This spring the fashionistas will be happy in Gainesville because Gainesville Fashion Week has gotten a whole lot bigger.

I interviewed with Neutral7, the marketing company that is putting the event on, for an assistant position a while back. I obviously did not get chosen, but I remember her asking a question along the lines of what would I change about Gainesville Fashion Week, and I remember telling her more people need to know about it.

Well, much to my excitement for the small fashion world of Gainesville, promotion for Gainesville Fashion Week has been intense this season.

I think they have gone the extra mile with promoting the event, and I will be interested to see if all their work will bring more people to the shows.

I hope to attend because if I can't go to New York and Paris Fashion Week, I might as well work with what I've got, and what I've got are three nights of fashion show events at a new club in downtown Gainesville.

I doubt I will attend all three, but I am interested in seeing if the fall trends that lit up New York, Paris, Milan and London will grace the runway here in Gainesville. I'm hoping for some new points of view and a whole lot of creativity.

About a year ago, I attended what I believe was the first Gainesville Fashion Week, and it was pretty impressive. It had that feel of an event just starting out, but they managed to rock out some nice fashion in a very small club.

I did not attend in the fall, but I am looking forward to seeing the evolution of what our fashion week is becoming.

Here are some pictures I took a year ago from the Bobby K fashion show.

Future vacation destination: Maison Moschino

So, next time you're in Milan you should definitely check out the Hotel Moschino, a mid-priced hotel styled by Moschino.

The hotel contains 65 rooms, a gym, spa, restaurant and bar, and is in an old railway station.

I saw these photos and fell in love, I don't know any hotel like this in the states, and if there is one, someone please direct me towards it! I would definitely want to stay in the red dress room.

“The common thread connecting the rooms is a fairy tale theme because to sleep is perchance to dream, and dreams are fairy tales that we are allowed to experience first hand, the fables of a fantasy world that we have created...” describes the hotel’s design team.
