NYFW: Minimalism at Helmut Lang, Theysken's Theory, The Row and T by Alexander Wang

Three collections that I think used minimalism in great ways this season were Helmut Lang, The Row and Theysken's Theory.

While some of you might argue that Theysken's Theory isn't minimalistic, there are definitely aspects in the dresses where they are simple and edgy.  I think Theysken's Theory is my favorite collection out of these three and definitely my top five of NYFW.  I would wear just about everything in the collection, and I love the edginess and wearability that Theysken combines so well.  

Also, The Row's collection was an interesting display because it was all white and creams, and while it was simple in color palette, the details were stunning.  It never ceases to amaze me that the Olsen twins are the masterminds behind this collection, and I think they continuously show a style maturity and elegance far beyond their age.

Helmut Lang's collection was as usual amazing.  I loved the unique shapes and the black and white pieces below are loose but still manage to give a woman shape.  I think it's incredibly wearable and just radiates cool.

I think Alexander Wang presented a much more grown up version of T this season.  While it's still the wearable sportswear/street wear that made the line so popular, it seems to me to be more chic but still edgy.  I am really liking the white palette and the grey cut out dress.

The Row x Toms shoe drop in Honduras

I love this video of the Olsen twins and Blake Mycoskie doing a shoe drop in Honduras.  If you're having  a bad day, watch this, I guarantee it will put a smile on your face.

Resort 2012: Favorite looks

As always, the season passes, and I haven't posted all the collections I loved.  This time though I decided to pick 11 (I couldn't chose 10) designers that I hadn't posted about yet and tried to pick a couple looks that really stood out to me.  Basically, I just pick outfits that I would either personally wear or if I saw someone on the street, I would think wow, that girl can dress.  Let me know if you had other favorites!

CFDA Award Nominees: Who would you chose?

I don't envy whoever's job it is to decide who wins CFDA Womenswear designer of the year.  It's such a tough decision because all the designers are incredibly talented, but I think I would pick Proenza Schouler for womenswear designer and Prabal Gurung for the Swarovski womenswear designer, although I would love to see The Row win.

Best Dressed at Cannes (part two)

Here's some more looks I found that I adore from Cannes.  I'm totally loving the fact that Elizabeth Olsen went for two contrasting looks that were both from The Row, and I think Clemence Posey looks stunning.  Enjoy and tell me what you think!

The Row Fall 2011

While there's been a lot of fur on the runway this week, no one has done it to the extent and possibly as well as the Olsens.  Also, I'm not sure who will wear those fur hats, but I hope Mary Kate and Ashley start sporting them just so everyone can know they are totally wearable.

I'm obsessed with the last look and the black lace they used on a few of the pieces.  It really seems like the Olsens are evolving their style and trying new things, and I applaud them because this collection is by no means boring.

OBSESSED: The Row Pre-Fall 2011

This has been a great week for fashion with all the ad campaigns and gorgeous pre-fall collections, but I have to say, the Olsen's collection might be one of my favorites.

As if you needed proof that Mary Kate and Ashley were amazing, look at their pre-fall collection for The Row.  It's wearable, chic, cool in the same way that the Olsens are (effortlessly but with a lot of effort I'd like to imagine) and sophisticated beyond their years.
