V Magazine's Spring 2011 Couture Photos
Here's a collection of my favorite photos from V Magazine's coverage of the couture shows. The photos are from Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino. I always love when V covers fashion shows because their photos are alway so soft and different from other magazine's coverage.
Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring Campaign
Marc Jacob's ad campaigns for his two lines were released in full today, and I think I definitely prefer the Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign staring the androgynous male model Andrej Pejic and the adorable Ginta Lapina. What do you think?

Pre-fall Monique Lhuillier
Monique Lhuillier's pre-fall collection features two dresses that were worn on the red carpet for the Golden Globes, and I'm going to predict that maybe two more will end up at the Oscars.
Lhuillier is an expert when it comes to making a gorgeous dress that makes a statement. My guess is the white shimmery dress and one of the purple dresses will have a "red carpet moment" by the end of awards season if they haven't already.

Favorite street style photos from the menswear shows
Here's a look at my favorite photos that Tommy Ton captured during the menswear shows in Pitti Uomo and Paris. Enjoy!
Rag & Bone's DIY Campaign
Rag & Bone is trying something new with an ad campaign featuring Abbey Lee Kershaw, Sasha Pivovarova, Lily Aldridge and Edita Vilkeviciute. Rag & Bone employees are also posting the photos up all over Manhattan in a guerilla-style marketing campaign and there is a competition to see who can do their own best DIY photos.
I wouldn't expect anything less from Marcus Wainwright and David Neville (and obviously Abbey's are my favorite).
Also, watch the video it gives you a little idea of what the girls were told to do, and it took me FOREVER to remember where I saw it.

UPDATE: Today is apparently not my day for technology, and the video would not work on this post, so I'll be putting it up in the post above. Check it out though!
OPI Texas Nail Polish
OPI looked to Texas for inspiration for it's new nail color line coming out in February. There are a lot of bright pinks and purples, but here's a look at four of my favorite colors from the line.
The green is "Don't Mess With OPI" and the light gray color is "It's Totally Fort Worth It."
The lighter brown is called "San Tan-Tonio," and the dark brown is called "Suzi Loves Cowboys."

Video and details from Jean Paul Gaultier's spring 2011 couture show
Here's a look at the awesome shoes and some close-up shots of the models and fashion from Jean Paul Gaultier's show. Also, check out the video below to see how amazing the clothes looked on the runway.
Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2011
As a side note, this post, like the Dior post, will also have two parts because I have too many photos to cram into one.
Anyways, let's talk about how amazing Jean Paul Gaultier's show was. But where to start? There was the faux hawks. The male model Andrej Pejic who is more feminine looking then I can ever hope to be. And the can-can dancer who closed the show.
Now that I've mentioned a few awesome things about his show, we'll move on to the clothes with the thick pieces of fabric around the shoulders, the dress that managed to be elegant and feminine even with bondage like straps on the bodice and finally, the sequins, the feathers and the lace!

Chanel Couture Spring 2011
Chanel's spring couture show was simple yet elegant.
Lagerfeld played with new shapes and made gorgeous flowy beaded gowns. It never fails to amaze me how Lagerfeld can go from the Paris Byzance show to the collection that was displayed at the couture show.
It seems no matter what the theme is, he can make the iconic Chanel suit different and still beautiful, and make gowns that aren't for the every day woman but for those who are willing to take a risk.
Click below to see the photos from the show.
Boys of Milan and Paris: Fall/Winter 2011/12
Jason Wu and Tommy Ton have collaborated on another video this time showcasing the male models from the menswear shows in Milan and Paris.
Check it out, it's definitely entertaining!
A look into couture fitting rooms
I found an article on AnOther magazine's website and I thought it was super interesting because it showed 10 famous couture house's fitting rooms.
Here's a look into some beautifully designed spaces ranging from Chanel to Giorgio Armani.
I would say my favorites have to be Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier and Chanel.

Dior Couture Spring 2011
There were some to-die-for looks in Christian Dior's spring couture show. I noted my favorites in the photos below, but I am obsessed with the yellow dress towards the end with the black sequin details and the cowl neck dress with the gorgeous tulle bottom.
Couture tends to be a time when designers experiment, but something I noticed a lot from the shows so far is that designers played with shapes and while looking at some of these looks I asked myself who could possibly pull off some of these clothes that are feathers and lace piled on tulle.
However, that being said, Dior's collection was stunning, and I hope somebody starts rocking those circle fan-like skirts. Also, following this post, I'm going to put up some of my favorite close-up shots of the models. So stay tuned!
OBSESSED: Denisa Dvorakova for Vogue Russia
Once again we see "Black Swan" influencing fashion, and at this point, you might say, "It's been done," but Jason Schmidt does it right.
Check out this gorgeous editorial featuring Denisa Dvorakova for Vogue Russia's February issue.

Armani Prive looks to the future
I apologize in advance for not posting some looks from the couture shows, but I am bogged down with homework, so I'll leave you with a taste of the awesomness that occurred in Paris Monday.
Armani took a trip to the future with some extremely interesting shapes and fabrics. Not to mention a lot of purple lipstick and bedazzled lips. Take a look at some of the photos from behind the scenes.

Interview with Karl Lagerfeld for Spring 2011 Couture
Today starts the glorious Haute Couture shows and here's a glimpse of what you can expect from Chanel (who will have their show on Jan. 25). Looks like lots of lace, white and black chokers and details.
I am beyond obsessed with Karl Lagerfeld, the man truly is a genius.

Street style from Paris Fashion Week
Today starts the first day of the my favorite series of runway shows and presentations, the Haute Couture shows in Paris.
To get excited for it, here's a look at some of my favorite street style photos from Paris Fashion Week last fall.

Pre-fall dichotomy: Hard edges
So, the pre-fall collections are still trickling in, but I've noticed a certain dichotomy between the collections presented this season. The clothes tend to be either very hard and include lots of leather and black or feminine, lacey and demure.
I made a list of inspiration photos that I thought coordinated with some of the collections, and pictured below are models like Ann and Kirby Kenny, Ashley Smith and Keira Knightley. Not only do these women seem to embody the type of girls these designers are creating clothes for, but they also tend to be wearing similar make-up styles to what is featured in a lot of these collections (light on the lipstick with a nude or very light pink color and heavy on the eye makeup often featuring smokey eyes or lots of liner).

Valentino Pre-Fall 2011 Collection
Valentino's pre-fall collection is the ultimate showcase of demure dresses and feminine ruffles done well. I adore the black sheer dresses, the peter pan collars and the rich looking lace. I also love how some of the models are wearing nude-colored shoes that are simple and stylish.

Five things I'm currently obsessed with
It's a beautiful day in Florida, and I'm in a good mood so I thought I'd do something a little different and show you the five things I'm obsessed with this month. Take a look and tell me what you think!
1. Giles Deacon Happy Socks available at Opening Ceremony for $100
Kimora Lee Simmons Bluefly Closet Confession
Bluefly's latest installment of Closet Confessions takes you into Kimora Lee Simmons's closet and shows you how envy really feels when she goes through Birkin bag after Birkin bag followed by Louis Vuitton followed by Chanel.
However, it's definitely worth watching even if it's just to get a look at her Hello Kitty (probably diamond encrusted) mirror and to hear Kimora leave you with a lovely manta of "Go in peace and be fabulous."

Favorite February covers
Here's a few of my favorite magazine covers for February including Carine Roitfeld's second-to-last issue of Vogue Paris featuring Lara Stone.

MAC Wonder Woman Makeup Collection
MAC will be introducing it's Wonder Woman makeup collection on Feb. 10.
The makeup is packed in Wonder Woman primary colors and includes nail polish, colored mascara, a belt brush set and more. I'll definitely be getting the red and blue nail polishes, which are called "Obey Me" and "Spirit of Truth" respectively.
While I don't think this collection is quite as cool as the Disney Villain collection, I'm sure it's definitely worth checking out.

Kristen Stewart for Vogue's February Issue
Just for the record, I don't really like Kristen Stewart, but I really love the men and clothes of Proenza Schouler (which she wears in the whole spread). Also, the video of her below makes her actually seem endearing. Who knows, I could be a KStew fan after all.
More ad campaigns for Abbey Lee Kershaw
Abbey Lee Kershaw has landed two more ad campaigns for spring 2011. The first (my favorite) is for Versace, and the second is alongside Karlie Kloss for Donna Karan.

Fendi and Gucci Pre-Fall Collections
So, I decided to combine the Fendi and Gucci collections because I think they are both prime examples of color blocking and monochromatic looks. However, both labels do it differently, and I think it's interesting to see how two Italian companies can be so completely different.
I tend to like Fendi's minimalism better, what about you?
We'll start with Fendi:

Golden Globes Best Dressed List (part two)
Here's part of my Golden Globes Best Dressed list and it has six (couldn't decide on five) favorite looks of the evening.
My favorite looks tend to be more of the glamorous ones of the evening, because I'm going to be honest, while I didn't think there were too many "oh no moments" on the red carpet, I thought a lot of the looks were really boring. I wanted more Olivia Wilde and less Emma Stone (not that she didn't look beautiful).
They're in no particular order, but we'll start with Anne Hathaway because she's wearing one of my picks!

More picks for the Golden Globes and the Oscars
After my earlier post about the 15 dresses I thought needed a "red carpet moment," I went back to my folder and looked at the other 23 and decided these dresses deserved some recognition as well. So, keep your eyes pealed tonight, hopefully a couple of my picks will have made the cut for the Golden Globes!
Also, if any of the dresses in this post or the previous post get picked, I'll probably end up revamping the idea for the Oscars.

The Sartorialist: A Visual Life
It took me awhile to watch this video of how The Sartorialist takes his photos and runs his blog, but it's definitely worth the time to check it out.
Say Something Good
I am obsessed with the simple styling and the hair and makeup in this editorial featuring Pauline Van der Cruysse and Dasha Sushko shot by Simon Cave.
Top 15 dresses I think deserve a "red carpet moment"
The Golden Globes are tonight and in honor of the excitement to see who is wearing what, I will also be posting about my favorite red carpet looks and what celebs wore in as timely a manner as possible.
However, I had some free time and I decided to go through my archives and see what dresses I think deserve a red carpet moment. I came up with about 35, so I decided to narrow my choices into the ones I thought would possibly be best for the Golden Globes.
Now don't be too harsh on me, this is my first time picking potential dresses and I decided to throw in a few mini dresses although I think the Globes tend to be more gowns.
Here's a look at the 15 dresses I think should be worn tonight and if not tonight they better be worn to the Oscars. Feel free to tell me if you agree or disagree!
